KACE: End Users Unable To login Using LDAP

Summary:  Users cannot log in and you successfully imported from your Actice Directory to the KACE appliance

LDAP, Active Directory, AD user unable to login, bad user name or password

Steps to resolve:

If you've found that you can import the user from AD successfully, but cannot bind to it when troubleshooting in Settings > User Authentication or log in to the KBOX with it, check to see if they have workstation Log On To restrictions:

If this is the case, then users will not be able to login until you add the domain controller they are authenticating to in Settings > User Authentication to the Log On To section or remove the restriction.

If you are concerned about security polices we suggest that you implement a read only domain controller and point the KACE appliance to that by using this Microsoft link for instructions:

  • Checked this. No Log On to restrictions, still can't login. Not sure what I've done wrong here, but I'm able to import users quite easily but still cannot get them to log in. - casgvs 10 years ago
  • I had this same problem. The problem was with Settings > User Authenication. Make sure the only thing in the 'Search Base DN' box is the domain itself, with no CN or OU at the beginning. At least this was the problem for me. - kscott 10 years ago
  • I am having similar problems. My AD users' names are firstname.lastname and K100 is changing the field to firstname lastname. I think that is causing my problem. This functionality seems to be a hit and a miss. I Hope someone comes out with a definitive solution to this issue. - dzoquier 9 years ago
