K2000 License question
I have a question about the K2000 licenses. Do I need to keep enough licenses for every computer I have that I have ever imaged and is checking into the K1000? Currently I have 825 for the K1000, do i need that many for the K2000? Or am I able to have less K2000 licenses and only have an amout equal to the number of computers I plan to image at one give time?
Great Question, this is a “discussion” that I have been having with Quest for almost a year, so I can give my perspective, but you will need to get the corporate answer.
To be fair to any software company you should only use the software as defined within the EULA, so I suggest you become familiar with that document.
Quest may like you to match your SDA licenses with your SMA licenses, but there are any number or reason why it is not unreasonable to do that.
First, who reimages every machine every year? So why have the same number
Second, you may buy more kit and increase your endpoints in the SMA, but not be forced to increase your SDA license count.
Third, there are not too many check and balances built in to the SDA at present, so auditing license usage is not the most exact of sciences.
All of that adds up to there being no definitive answer, in my humble opinion, and as a partner, I would asses and accept any of theses as a reason for the two appliances not to need to match up.
Let’s see what a Quest representative can add to the discussion.......
