Setting up offboard backup for Kace SMA

I keep getting an error when I try to set up the offboard backup information. I'm trying to back up to a NAS, so I'm using Samba. All of the documentation I find assumes I'm able to use a share name, but I don't have a share name for this folder so I have to use the full path. I've tried the server name and IP, and I've added a path with backslashes and forward slashes. I've tried my name as user, domain\user and user@domain.com. All of this gives me an unknown error when I click the Test button. I can't find anything in the logs with more info.

Does anyone have an example I can follow?

  • What type of NAS (make or model) - KevinG 4 years ago
  • Thanks for the response. It's a NetApp, but I don't manage it so I don't know the model or version. I do see a doc that says it uses the CIFS protocol. - tpr 4 years ago

Here I used a Synology NAS.

  • Thanks. When I try the path without a leading forward slash, I get a network error. When I add the leading backslash, I get the unknown error.

I tried Run Now to see if the error log would give me more information than the test did, but I only got a "samba failed: Unknown Error" entry followed by a "failed to copy .tgz to Samba share." - tpr 4 years ago
