Set Computer Name

I got the getcomputername dialog set up but setcomputername does not set up the computer name I give it in Computer Properties.  Where does getcomputername save the name and how does setcomputername get the name?

I weed to check if this is still the case, but the getcomputername task, retrieves the computer name or gets it from the dialog option. It then creates a text file on a hidden share of the K2000 which is named by the mac address and the contents of the file is the computername. The Setcomputername task then looks up the mac address and looks in the share for a text file of that name, using the contents to set the name and then deletes the file.

  • I forgot to mention that I created my own BAT file to run getcomputername and I run it from a network share and not the hidden share on the K2000. - lnovak 8 years ago
