Scripted install of program on network share

I have an application that is located on DFS shares throughout our firm. I have a batch file that I have uploaded to the KScript that runs the install. I have tested the batch file and it works great when I just launch it, but the deployment script doesn't seem to work. It says it completes, but nothing is installed. I have tried using the preexisting mapped drive instead of the UNC, but get the same results. I am running it at the Logged-in user. I seem to be missing something on this. Can anyone help me out?

  • Do your users have the appropriate privileges to install software, then? If so, run for the hills! - anonymous_9363 9 years ago
  • @jknox - I have tried it both ways and still get nothing. I have turned on debugging and still no joy
    Running kbot: runkbot 89 1418943811
    Kbot Config Info - Start
    id=89 name=PlotWorks Install version=1418943811 type=policy
    execute disconnected=false logged_off=false
    execute events
    Kbot Config Info - Finish
    runkbot ----- launching [path='C:\ProgramData\Dell\KACE\kbots_cache\packages\kbots\89' program='install-pw-client2.bat' parms='' wait='false'] -----
    runkbot ----- completed [exitCode=0] -----

    @VBScab, I am testing with myself so I have the correct access. - teyers 9 years ago
  • Typically anytime I need to run a batch file I have Kace copy it to a folder we have on every PC here - c:\kbox - and then have it execute the batch file from there. I have much more success than running directly from a network share. - KHaught 9 years ago

Try launching the .bat file directly instead of using cmd.exe.  If you have to use cmd.exe, try adding a "/c" as a parameter.
