Recommended software platform for upkeeping VM's? - K2000

I am currently assessing the differences between VirtualBox, Hyper-V, and VMWare Workstation for upkeep of our golden images. These VM's will be updated and syspreped to maintain the latest versions of our golden images. What software would you recommend? Time savings are essential.

There are many problems we have run into with VirtualBox and don't see this as a viable solution to our needs. Similarly, Hyper-V is causing issues with the VM's hanging after deployment of some, but not all, images/installations. VMWare Workstation seems to have no immediate problems and handles everything easily. I realise I am answering my own question but I would like some more experienced feedback.

Thank you in advance,
-Anthony

I have always found VMware to be the most reliable

virtual solution for us.

I also have my gold images in VMware. Multiple updates

and sysprep's later...still no issues.

We all know VMware leads the pack in virtualization !

  • I love Hyper-V's memory ballooning, thats the only thing I miss with Workstation. I have found Workstation quite reliable and I use almost everyday, I use it for automated build testing and packaging. - rileyz 7 years ago
