POP3

Is there any way to force the Kbox to use secure pop3? We use Google Apps for our email and Google only accepts ssl connection for pop.

According to the Administrator's Guide:

The KACE K1000 Appliance POP3 email server must pass authentication information and the email text itself as clear text.

With many companies moving to Google Apps, I'm surprised the K1000 doesn't support custom POP3 settings (SSL, non-standard ports, etc.).

I read that in the admin guide, but was hoping that there was a workaround by now.

There is an open engineering enhancement request for this. Please add your voice to it at kace.uservoice.com or email support@kace.com.
This thread may help a bit also: http://itninja.com/question/google-apps-&-kbox-smtp-sever&mpage=1&key=google𐖹

The current workaround, admittedly not awesome, is to use another internal pop server that can also have a client (e.g. exchange) download it from Gmail to a local mailbox and then the kbox can fetch it from there (or the local server could forward it over smtp).

I just finished a support chat and found out that this is a top 10 request. Hopefully it will be in the next release. Thanks for the responses.

5.2 will have no new features related to POP or SMTP

We were able to implement the workaround detailed by berrym. Hopefully it will continue to work until Kace decides to include the feature enhancement.

Yes, I prefer that workaround if the option is available, but for those watching at home note that it doesn't use POP. To send mail out to users what did you do? Have KBOX deliver directly? That seems to be the implied mechanism by berrym

I read that this should be in by 5.2?  We are up to 5.4, any updates if this works or not?  or is ther a better way.  I'm almost dead in the water, and cant move from my other ticket system until a workaround is worked out?
