Kace - Update specific Software.
Hi there,
we are using the KACE system management appliance to deploy Windows updates to our clients now we were wondering if we could use the K 2000 to automatically deploy Software updates (namely Owncloud, adobe reader etc. ) to our users.
A quick google search netted some people saying to deploy the application again via managed installation which seemed like it would uninstall the currently installed Version and install the new one.
Any other hints on how to approach this topic?

you can use the patching for 3rd party software too.
Adobe is one of the many software vendors which can also be patched using the same mechanism you are using for your windows updates.
The SDA (ex K2000) is not made for deploying software updates.
You deploy operating systems with it and can install software as a post install task.

Aside from any Kace operational consideration, whether or not an installation package uninstalls any previous version depends entirely on how that package is...er...packaged. Some do, some don't. How the deployment happens external to that is irrelevant.
