KACE automated Feature Updates causing issues not found in normal upgrades and updating to 1909 when set to update to 1903

Normally when it's time to do build updates in my infrastructure I do them manually.  Right now I'm updating PCs from 1809 to 1903.  I know there are ways to do an automated install but I never seemed to be able to get it to work right.  So when I saw that KACE now had an automated way to do it I was quite excited.  However, I am running into problems doing it through KACE that i dont normally run into if I do them manually such as:

1- Certain software settings are reset.  For example, for our employees that use Logmein, it wipes out the setting in the client that defaults the user login to our domain instead of the local PC.  This does not normally happen when I run the 1903 update manually.  This might not seem like a big deal, but for 100+ remote users that are not necessarily IT savvy, this results in a long bad morning after the updates are run.

2- 1/3rd of the updates are to 1909 instead of 1903.  I'm selecting to update to 1903(see pic below).  However, about a 3rd of the PCs that are in my schedule for some reason update to 1909 instead.

Anybody have any idea as to why I'm having these issues when using KACE to do the automated Feature Updates when they don't happen when I do them manually?  Are these bugs or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

  • Have not tried updating to 1903 but there is only a single small windows update between 1903 and 1909. Could that update have been installing automatically or are you blocking it? - paulfaz 3 years ago
  • I'm not blocking it. My consern is, when I eventually want to upgrade everything to 1909, amd I going to get random upgrades to 2004? - wakeside917 3 years ago
