How do i notify the approver via by email that he/ she has a ticket that needs approval

I write a rule that will assign an approver base on category selected but the approver is not notified.

If your email functionality is configured and working on your K1000, all you should need to do is to tick the box in the email matrix to say you want to send them.
Helpdesk>configuration>Queues and select your queue, the matrix is found part way down the page
