Distribution prompts not working when adding package to the Software Library

We have created distributions for several packages like Office, Visio, Lync and other non MS apps.  Each of these make use of the Allow Snooze and Post Install prompting to interact with the users and all work fine.

When we add the package to the Software Library and set the package as "Install" none of the prompts occur.  The package just installs without the pre and post install KACE prompts.  The package does install successfully however we do want to be able to prompt the user and tell them things like "this is going to take 10 min so don't reboot" and things like that.

This only seems to affect items that are from Distributions.  When we publish Scripts that have prompt they run all the prompts and commands successfully.

We are using sever 5.5.90547 and agent 5.5.25198

We put that kind of info in the install notes. You can also add attachments to better guide the user. It's not perfect, but it's what we do. You should also vote here https://kace.uservoice.com/forums/82699-k1000/suggestions/1322901-user-portal-progress-bar-on-sofware-download-inst.

  • I got some feedback from KACE support and they confirmed that it does not prompt. It is wierd that the scripts do. This would be very useful. - JordanNolan 9 years ago
