Deploying application configuration files...
I have a manged install for Splunk. Works well. However sometimes the security team require changes to the inputs.conf file.
If I update the zip I use and then upload this as the associated file nothing changes.
How do I make Kace more like Puppet? Where I can change a single file in the install package and this gets pushed round?
Thanks.

Are you trying to redeploy the Managed Install after you upload the new.conf file? I don't think it will redeploy as it will see the product already exists. I use scripts and file synchronizations for individual file pushes. You could make a smart label to detect machines with Splunk installed and make a file sync for this .conf file. Then, anytime it updates, update your software inventory with the new .conf file and push it your machines via the file sync.

Along with this, if you have upgraded to version 7.0 you can create a custom inventory rule that checks for a file with a specific MD5 checksum. Then you can push the updated file with a file sync. - chucksteel 7 years ago

+1 for file sync. We use it for a few config files and it works great - JasonEgg 7 years ago

Step 1: Create a software title for the file using a custom inventory rule:

Step 2: Use a File Sync to push the file to clients:
