Clickable Assets?

For those of you with the Assets module, I've put in a feature request (unfortunately they didn't give me the number).

In Assets, you can create a field of another Asset Type. This gives you a drop-down to choose any Asset of that type. We use this for things like Hardware, we'll have fields of Asset Vendor, one for the Manufacturer and one for the Support Contract Vendor.

The problem is, being a drop-down, you can't click on it. So let's say I have hardware with a problem, and I want to go to the Support Vendor Asset for support contact info. I have to change my Asset Type to Vendor, then find that Vendor and click on it.

It would be great if it was a clickable field - the Machine field in Help Desk would be absolutely perfect. It's a link until you hit the Edit button, then it's a drop-down.

So if you agree, contact support and vote for it. :)

The enhancement # is 10875. If you do not have a number then it may not have been submitted or your ticket might not be tied to it -- which means no vote. In this case it did already exist though as 10875.

FYI, this link already exists from child to parent via the "related assets" section

If the field is a multi-select then the values are clickable from parent to child

If the field is a single-select then there is no link from parent to child.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
