Adobe Shockwave APSB10-03 fails to update (code 20: Extract File)

Hi,

All three of my test systems (Vista and XP) are reporting the APSB10-03 patch (from Patchlink) as failed with error 20: Extract file. Some questions...

- What does the 20 "Extract file" error code refer to?
- Has anyone else experienced this?
- I have debugging enabled on the agents, but I can't find any details logged during the patch installation. The patch detection is logged, but I can't find any referrals to the patch installation. Does anyone know where to look for that information?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I don't use KBOX security patching (I manually deploy third party updates via Distribution, and I use WSUS for MS patches), but this seems like something you may want to submit a ticket for. You'll probably get a faster response from KACE tech support.

"failed with error 20: Extract file" can be an issue with the patch file being corrupted - maybe a download issue - best to track via support

Here is a link to a Kace Knowledge Base Article. You will need to sign in to Kace Support to view it. http://www.kace.com/support/customer/faq/index.php?action=artikel&cat=6&id=906&artlang=en . It explains what they will need to help solve such issues.

djz -
We are having the same problem with Shockwave Player 11.5.6.606 using KBOX security patching. I "Saved" the patch again early this morning to reset the deploy counters and then watched all of my Workstation deploys fail after 3 tries. Did you get a fix from KACE support?
Thanks.

Same error here. Over 6000 failed installation attempts with 3 tries each.

This has been tracked down to a checksum verification issue with some windows patches which requires us to issue an update to the v5.0 windows agent. This should be available over the next day via support,
Ken.

FYI... I "believe" this is what kross just posted about.

New KBOX client patch available
For KBOX Systems Management Appliance users, a new client patch is available now from our support downloads page. This patch is recommended for customers who are using the KBOX to manage patching of Windows system, as it addresses a problem that some customers have seen with some patches.

Yes that is correct, this is the update to address these Error: 20 Extract file issues.
