ManageSoft will provide automated software deployment and configuration management for thousands of PCs that need to be updated daily. ManageSoft also will provide automated asset tracking for software and hardware IT assets throughout Prometric's global operations. The ManageSoft solution will help Prometric to meet the demanding testing requirements of its international customer base which includes the world's largest information technology companies, government licensing agencies, professional credentialing organizations, and the leading provider of academic admission exams.
Prometric is the global leader in comprehensive technology-enabled testing and assessment services. The company develops new tests centrally and deploys them around the world through a network of proprietary testing centers and over the Web. Prometric needed a way to automatically deploy, update, track, and configure software used to deliver over six million exams annually through a network of over 3500 computer-based testing services centers in 121 countries.
"Our testing centers are equipped with personal computers that need to be configured on a daily, and sometimes hourly, basis to administer computer based tests (CBT) for more than 300 clients," said Kelli Crane, Prometric senior vice president and chief technology officer. ManageSoft provides industry-leading bandwidth management and error-recovery features to ensure reliable software deployment over even the most unreliable networks," Crane continued. "That's critical, because we need to ensure that the right test gets to the right candidate, at the right timeÂ… wherever they are. When a security dealer, stock broker, doctor, or a systems engineer comes to Prometric for a secure testing experience, we need to deliver a guaranteed testing software environment."
Ms. Crane noted that ManageSoft gives Prometric 24/7 access to the information IT administrators need to manage effectively.
ManageSoft will enable central IT administrators to automatically deploy new or updated software-based exams to thousands of testing centers without requiring costly site visits. The solution enables entire PC configurations to be specified for particular tests. ManageSoft smart agents will provide state-based management that ensures that managed PCs automatically return to the desired state after each test (without requiring manual administrator intervention).
The automated IT inventory reporting that ManageSoft provides will also enable Prometric's central IT administrators to answer questions like: Does that center have enough RAM for this test? Is the right version of Windows media player available? Do we need to plan hardware upgrades?
"Prometric is a world-leader in using technology strategy to support business growth and meet customer needs," said Walter Elliot, ManageSoft Corporation CEO. "We are delighted that Prometric has selected ManageSoft to manage their frontline testing software."
