If we do any managed installs that use the user message boxes (preinstall/postinstall etc) we have found that the "server alert" status box that tells the users that the applications are updating will NEVER go away. the pre/post install popups come and go as expected, but the interim "updating installations" box will stay put until the PC is rebooted.(or they close the popup manually.

Upon further digging, there is a second window hidden... its a kuseralert missing parameters screen. Any ideas what is causing this?

Check for space in company name if you are using an older agent. Also a custome message may be too long or hold a special character like %. Try clearing the custome message if you use one and try again with the default.

  • we are on agent 5.3 and even using a basic message causes the problem.
  • Post your amp.conf file
  • Also post the kuseralert.log file

Per Support It was a known bug in 5.3.  Upgraded to 5.4 and the problem went away.
