Symantec Endpoint Protection install won't suppress Start Menu Icons

I am having a strange problem on what should have been a simple install.

My client wants SEP 11 to be installed and to not have Start Menu icons. So I call the install with the following command based off of what is posted at the Symantec site

start /w msiexec /i "Symantec Antivirus.msi" /passive /norestart runliveupdate=0 ADDSTARTMENUICON=0

Well this didn't work and even if I delete the icons from "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Symantec Endpoint Protection" they come back

I even went so far as to edit the Symantec AntiVirus.msi and set the Property ADDSTARTMENUICON=0

Has anybody seen this? Any recommendations?

Have you tried creating an MST to remove the icons?

@jmaclaurin: Thanks, that is basically what I did..

Using InstEd MSI Editor I removed the following entries:

In the "Component" Table:
deleted row: SAVShortcuts
performed a complete cascade deletion.

deleted row: SAVShortcuts

In the "Directory" table:
Deleted row: SepMenuDir

The install is working fine now. the app seems to not have suffered from this either. I just wish the switches would have worked properly in the first place.
