Strange Wise behavior

For some odd reason WPS started doubling up on registry keys upon capturing an application for repackaging ... Many registry keys seems to be captured TWICE! i see no pattern whatsoever in its behaviour and its not ALL keys. If i delete the one of them in Installation Expert they both disapear, so my best approach is to delete one of them per component, but its starting to be a real drag, and i have NO idea why many of the keys makes double entries.

Anyone else experienced this?

Only I have touched this setup, and its been much longer since i changed the setup than i've had this problem..

I run SQL2K and Wise Repository/Sharepoint on same server, i usually have 2 Snapshot PCs running (virtually)

I always capture with Smart monitor and converting reg entries to advertising info
I also have these checked:

Capture changes in Hardware
Allow root to be watched
Enable ordering of self-registration
Capture Non-MS ODBC
Create Install report
Enhanced File and Reg key association

All above is my prefered Setup

Your suggestion works fine ! However, i do like my regs advertised ...

Well... yes, so my issue might be that it suddenly won't advertise my reg keys properly, and i'm sure there are alot of debating here on pros and cons for advertising, so i'll not go into that here :-) only say that i prefer advertisements vs. the "raw" output, and it's a puzzle to me why this (unprovoked) behavior - of course it has no practical dilemma, a reg key will only be written once and Orca don't even complain, but it still annoys me, why it fx. will write one key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\blah blah and another HKLM\Software\blah blah .. i've experienced before that Wise won't catch the registry keys and put'em in the exclusion list if its in different case than those already excisting on the snapshot pc.

Thanks for your Input !

This is really starting to puzzle me .. i just set up a new test environment, re-installed WPS, sharepoint, SQL etc. and im getting excactly the same result

Why in the world would wise make 2 registry entries

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Blah blah
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Blah blah

SMS Installer dont see 2 identical entries written

it makes no difference if i reboot or not ..

Well, yes ... and no. I guess its not uncommon applications creating keys in different case and Wise thinking its not set the keys so it'll do it again, which can have unfortunate results when uninstalling the app. But i've never seen Wise actually capturing keys twice in different cases

I think i will ask Altiris about it

Thanks for your input Wildhair

“This is a known issue that results from using both the SmartMonitor and snapshot capture methods simultaneously. This issue will be addressed in the next scheduled WPS release, but we will not be putting out a hotfix to address these issues. The workaround is to use the SmartMonitor method or the snapshot method by itself.”
"So you use this workaround for now and look for the permanent fix in the next release of Wise Package Studio. If you have additional questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you."
