Stopping a SERVICE from stopping.

I have a Mcafee patch that stops and starts a service when it's installed. When this happens, it drops the VPN users because it thinks this person does not have virus protection service running.

How can I take out the instruction in the patch that stops a service? I am using Wise Package Studio. Is there a table where I can find this information and just delete it?

Thanks in advance.

You could use ORCA to view the changes the MSP makes - in ORCA open the original vendor's MSI then click on Transform .. View Patch... and browse to the MSP.

It's likely that the patch stops the service either through entries in the ServiceControl table or it may employ a custom action to do the job - so either of these might need to be removed.

See my reply to your other related posting regarding how you might "modify" the MSP.
