Hi, all.

I upgraded our SMA/K1 to 9.0 on 6 days ago and noticed yesterday that there is now an item in the Applications folder called KACEMenuBar that points to HD\Library\Application Support\Quest\KACE\bin\KACEMenuBar.app.

Does anyone know what this is for? Is this something new with version 9.0?

This is a little task bar item, which you can enable here:
Settings | Provisioning | Communication Settings | Agent Status Icon on Device
This will add a little Icon to the task bar which allows the user itself to restart the agent, force inventory and see the status.
If this option is not enabled, nothing will change.

  • Hi, I can't seem to find the path you're mentioning. is it in the admin (system) or in one of the organizations? cheers
    • We don't use organization in our SMA/K1000, and I was able to find the check box in that location (Settings > Provisioning > Communication Settings > Agent Status Icon on Device (this is the check box)
    • in an ORGS appliance it is under the SYSTEMUI under the Organisations|<your org> (sma/systemui/organization.php?ID=XXX (replace XXX with the ID of your org), where all of the Communication settings are
