How to suppress the check for updates for Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.3.12 in Help Menu and Preferences.

At file -> Preferences you can set the update rules, there untick checking for updates.
Then when clicking check for update, it will fail for an unknown reason.

Setting this on a global scale I would advise to block the web address to make sure.
