How to make self heal of HKCU

I am making a package in which has some registry settings in HKCU , The package works fine for the user for which it installed . But the registry settings do not work for the other users . I have made the installation per machine but still not able to get it . Can anyone tell me how can i make the registry settings appear in any user who logs on .

Search google for "Active Setup" or just put all your current user bits in components that have a key path of a current user bit. Then be sure to have advertised shortcuts.

some suggestions...

If youre going to use Active Setup, what you can do is to create a StubPath command that would import your HKCU registries or you can also set the StubPath to make your package do a full repair.

You can also try the other method turbokitty mentioned (which i think is less troublesome). Just make sure to set a keypath and advertise your shortcuts. If your shortcuts are not advertized then your package will not repair.

:)

just new in packaging...please correct me if i post something wrong.

Warning, when I tested active setup it appeared to ignore return codes (read "failures").

If someone knows how to get it to work reliably please let me know.

Thanks
