How to disable auto update in Acrobat Standard 8
Hi,
has anyone managed to do this? I've tried capturing the manual action of disabling "Automatically check for Adobe updates" with several different tools but could not see anything useful.

There's a section in the Adobe Customization Wizard that will allow you to disable updates (as well as suppress the EULA, force uninstall of previous versions etc.). You can download it from Adobe's site.
