How can I Stop Mail Being Deliverd to Exchange 2003 Mail Store?

Hi,

We are running Exchange 2003 Standard and are getting very close to the 75GB mailstore limit (500MB or less). I wouild like to shutdown internal and external mail delivery to the mailstore without unmounting or turning off services so we do not cause an unrecoverable mailstore.

I have frozen the mail delivery queue "Local delivery". Is this the correct way to achieve what I am trying to do or is there a better way?

Thanks.

You could block the ports mail is transmitted on - typically port 25 for SMTP, 110 for POP3, and 143 for IMAP.  Here is a link of the ports used by Exchange 2003:

There may be better ways but I would just suggest to start figuring out your upgrade path (guessing you are working on that already).  An upgrade would be the best long-term solution.
