How can I deploy applications with SCCM without copying all the files to the client ?

We are using SCCM 2012 and have started to migrate from the Program Packages to Application Packages.  I noticed with Applications that we don`t have the option to "run from distribution point".  This is a probleme when we try to deploy large softwares like SAS for example which is over 7GB.  The download to the client takes longer than the install itself therefore doubling the time it takes to get the software installed.

Is this by design or is there a way to run the installation directly from the source (DP) ?  If not, i`ll have to leave it as a Programme package.

you can select below options for single application distribution.

For task sequence if you install SP1 you will get an option to install from DB directly.
