Digital Signing-Way out??
Hello everyone,
We are packaging applications on vista;for distribution purposes we are facing UAC prompt issue.
We tried a lot of workaround to disable UAC feature while deployment but no much success.
Finally we reached to the conclusion that the executables or the dll, ocx's involved must be digitally signed (referred this link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa140234(office.10).aspx). This process works fine but it has been mentioned that we need to buy SSL certificates for actual distribution purposes.
"They should not be used to sign code files that will be publicly distributed. Since the certificates are not issued by a CA whose root certificate is already trusted on a user's machine, the test certificate will not validate correctly on the user's machine. "
Just wanted to know how you guys are handling the UAC issue in ur organization.
Is there any other way to proceed on this ??

I'm sure this question will come up more as folks go to Vista. There is a great technet article on UAC by Mark Russinovich. Have you read it?

You can have a look on the followig link:

It proves to be useful to a great extent.

Dear All,
May I am asking something which is out of subject as this is not related to vista we using XP only but i need your valuable input on one thing that is can we create package or capture this"Importing SSL Certificate" thing?
Can we import certificate in IE and then into the Java keystore and can this function captured and we make pacakge of this.
Can this be done,and how?
