Deploying Apple's Shellshock patches via K1000

I need to run Apple's patches for Shellshock on all our Macs (3 patches based on OS version). We do not do patch management here and I'd like to know the best way to get these out. They're pkg/dmg files but the patch, when applied, does not show up as an inventory item. That kind of breaks a lot of what I know about doing managed installs.

My scripting skills are a little rusty (okay, very rusty), but I'm really the only Mac guy on the staff here. Any hints or links to relevant discussions would be welcome.

Thanks,
Ric

  • You could deploy via a script and do a detection on if a file exists don't run; creating some random file after the patch ran of course. - Jbr32 9 years ago

In case you have not seen it, Dell released the patch so you can apply the update via the K1000 patch schedule.
