Deploying an image to a 2-partition hard drive

The Dell computers come with a recovery partition and the Windows partition.  I imaged the Windows partition (drive D) and tried to deploy this image, along with some preinstall tasks (create single partition, format C, install MBR and upload hardware inventory).  The installation fails.  I think the drive was formatted because when I try to reboot to the hard drive, the bootmgr is missing.

Any assistance would greatly be appreciated!

I used the scripts on this page -- http://www.kace.com/support/resources/kb/solutiondetail?sol=113970. The K-image wouldn't work for me but WIM did so I am now able to image computers. - See more at: http://www.itninja.com/question/deploying-an-image-to-a-2-partition-hard-drive#answer-91248

I think I may have found the answer to my own question and plan on trying this:

Create a new master image with only one partition, dump the second partition it does you no good and is a pain in the butt when it comes to imaging.

It really depends on if you want the recovery partition. Since you now have the K2000, it can be used as a recovery tool for systems that are on the network, but not all systems are on the network when they need recovery.

So, you can use the article to capture both partitions and then redeploy, or you can create a fresh master image in a virtual environment with just a single partition and then deploy that lovely, clean image.

I don't recommend capturing a system 'as shipped', but rather build one yourself so you know the sysprep state, have control of the drivers, bloatware, etc.
