Application Accreditation

Apart from the many tools for packaging, deployment and inventory are any members aware of tools or help offered in managing the information generated in the desktop management process. I am thinking of an applications database which can list approved (packaged) applications that can form the core of the desktop deployment process. From customer request, packaging, testing and through to customer pull delivery. This might include recording the key executables of the applications delivered. I have used Landesk in the past and this required a further mamagement layer including database and website to create the process for application accreditation. If there is something off the shelf around it would be really useful.

Every shop that I have been in either uses a custom built application or they modify systems such as Remedy to suit this purpose. It would be difficult to build an off the shelf product that fulfills this purpose because of the customization each client would likely need for process and business specific tracking information. However if anybody has come across and off the shelf product it would be interesting to look at.
