High school students learn about information technology

How old were you when you first got into IT? Was it offered as a tech demo at your school? I was lucky enough to fall right into that age in which families were really starting to get computers with internet in the home which gave me more than enough time to blue screen a desktop or two. I wonder if we'll eventually see more IT-based classes in school outside of BCIS.

"We wanted to expose high school students and give them a chance to network with professionals within the community," she says. "We have tech demo stations set up, so not only do they learn in the classroom, but they get that real-world experience."

I've always thought that it would be cool to try and find a way to offer electives that could help students get basic IT certifications like the A+ and Network+. So many young IT hopefuls don't even know that certifications are an option until they finally hear it from another IT professional or eventually from a college professor.
