SQL 2005 and XP to run Wise PAckage Studio

I have been using installshield for packaging mainly. I need to use Wise PAckage Studio at my new job. I am trying to get familiar with it before I start working there. I installed SQL 2005 on my XP machine. I then installed the trial of Wise PAckage Studio. When I go to launch WPS, I get a popup that I need to configure or upgrade the Wise Repository Manager first. My problem is I can't seem to get it to find SQL Server. I checked SQL and I can't get the service to run nor does it look like its installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look on Symantec's Connect portal. There's a KB there which details the steps required to install WPS.

I've not installed this in quite some time but you can try the following.

Go here first to install SQL Express 2005: https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=18249&p=1

Then see if this helps with the install for WPS 7 and connecting with SQL Express 2005:

You'll probably have to allow downloads as both links point to a Word Doc. Download them and see if that answers your questions.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
