Kace SMA Network Managed Install Won't Unzip

Hello Everyone,

I'm using Kace SMA (K1000) console version 8.0 to push some built automated software installs. Now if I upload smaller zips such as Office Project 2013 (280MB) directly into the console and use managed installation to remote install it on a computer, it works great.

For larger files such as SQL 2008 (4.4GB) I can't upload it to the console due to the size cap so I have the MI rule grabbing it from a local network share. Everything else is similar in setup to my Project example but the SQL example simply doesn't work. I even saw my zip get downloaded to: C:\ProgramData\Quest\KACE\downloads\XXXXXX (XXXXX being the generated directory number). However, the quest popup on the computer says finished installing even though it does nothing but copy the zip to the computer and deletes the transferred zip.

To ensure my SQL automation is working (it works when activated manually on a computer), I tried pushing my perfectly working Project.zip from a network share and same issue: the zip transfers to the computer, gets deleted, a Kace popup says the installation finished even though it didn't.

Someone posted something similar here but I don't see how I have a character limit issue.

  • Have you tried using the client_drop folder instead of your share?
