hp2015 printer issue

We have a few hp2015dn printers that we have on a print server. Windows 2003. The printers can be installed locally on Windows XP and Windows 7 and then the port changed and they print fine. However if we try to install as a network printer it works for XP but not Windows 7....Internet research shows a driver conflict but I have tried every drive I can think of with no success. The error is operation failed. Unable to connect 0x0000007e

Anyone else having this issue with this model?

Try using the HP Universal Print driver.

We also had issues once where we had to manually remove the driver and reinstall to get it to work with our print server.

net stop spooler

del C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86\hpcpp104.dll

del C:\Windows\System32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86\hpcpp115.dll

net start spooler

RUNDLL32 PRINTUI.DLL,PrintUIEntry /dd /m "HP Universal Printing PCL 6" /h "x86" /v "Type 3 - User Mode"

  • Does this affect only one printer or all of them on the server. We have over 100 printers and only the 2015 is doing this? - ckubaska 12 years ago
  • We had this issue with any printers using the driver from the print server it was like the driver got corrupt. - GAKIS 12 years ago
  • This model is the only one doing it. I've tried other drivers and have the same issue. If it's installed locally it works great but if you try to install it as a network printer it fails on Windows 7. I have it working on Windows XP. - ckubaska 12 years ago
