How do I change the status of a ticket automatically if it gets updated?

When a new ticket is created, it states, "NEW" for its status which makes sense. However, I'd like to make it so that if it gets updated in its comments section, it changes it to opened so that way we know that it is being worked on. It would be nice if this was automatic.
If anyone can tell me or point me in the right direction to make this happen, let me know! Thanks!
