I set up a queue for our maintenance department.  Pretty straight forward and simple.  I want to use the built in email on events option when their supervisor makes one of them an owner.  I edited the Ticket Modified option to include some custom information like location, building, etc...but I don't see an option to add the summary.  We sort of just want the maintenance person to just look at their email and read everything they need right away.  I don't want to create custom email rules because we have a few maintenance people and I would need to create a rule for each of them.

If $ticket_summary doesn't work then I would assume that when they introduced the summary field they forgot to create the corresponding variable for tickets. Hopefully the variable works but the documentation wasn't updated. Either way I would submit a support ticket for a possible bug.

To find the Custom Field ID by examining the URL of a custom field page:

Navigate to the Custom Field configuration in the JIRA administration console

Click the cog icon to display the menu for the custom field

Hover your mouse over the Configure item in the menu. The URL will display in the footer of your browser. The URL will show the Custom Field ID.
