WS_FTP Professional 2006

I am trying to create an MSI for this software using WPS 5.1 and I am running into a small problem. The Product Activate is a Post-Installation process that runs when the software is first run. When I create an MSI with the basic installation, it works fine, but then the user would have to input the license-key for the product, which we don't want to do.

When I try to capture the product activation and incorporate it into the MSI, the installation freezes, doesn't report and error and it just stops respondid in the middle of writing system registry values.

Does anyone have any idea or experience packaging this application? Thanks ahead of time.

The MSI that hangs... Has it been validated? I can understand if the capture MSI doesn't produce a working installation, but hangs? No validated MSI file should cause Windows Installer to hang.

Hi HomaridII,

I would generate a log file of the installation (MSIEXEC.EXE /i %PATH_TO_MSI% /L*v %PATH_TO_LOG_FILE%) and have a look in there to see what might be causing the error.

Also have a look in the event log.

Hope that helps
