updating adobe reader
Updating reader products.
We had always (since version 6) problems updating reader. Seems sometimes, the older version is uninstall but files are still lock on the hd making impossible to install reader 8 unless we reboot the computer between the uninstall/install. We tried to remove the files manually but they are lock.
That problem is happening regularly as there is different version of reader 7, 8, 9...
Would someone teach me the good way to update reader?

Francois, the situation you describe isn't restricted to Adobe Reader. It's quite common. Normally, a process is running - most probably as a service but occasionally as a system tray applet - and its EXE is itself the locked file or the EXE is holding some configuration/support file open as it runs.
Thus, the solution is straight-forward: you need a Custom Action to a) detect the process and b) to kill it if found. The neatest way to do that is with a WMI-based script, of which there are countless examples available for download.
