Software Deployment

I'm looking at developing a way to preconfig Thunderbird so that all my users will have to do is launch the application and put in there username email address and password. Any Ideas? oh and because each of our organizations has its own email server (email.server.company.com) but share and email domain (@company.gov) I cant get the auto config stuff to work right.
