Hi everyone,

Anyone know how to speed-up system context install/web deployment on windows 7?
I'm aware that because of these enhanced firewall/security on windows 7, system context installation is very slow compared to windows XP. It took 30mins to hrs before the package is deployed on windows 7 wherein windows XP it only takes 10mins and so on.

You have my thanks guys.

Regards,

HI,
Use FASTINSTALL property in the property table for faster faster installation.. Give 1 as value for that property.
Else use msiexec.exe /i "msiname.msi" MSIFASTINSTALL=1 /l*v C:\install.log /qb
U can check the spped of installation by placing property and without using.

MSIFASTINSTALL only applies to WI v4.5 and above, plus it stops the system creating a System Restore Point. Some argue that SRPs have no place in corporate deployments but, in my experience, offering a user a 10 minute restore to a pre-installation point in time or how_many_hours to provide him/her with a rebuilt workstation will elicit only one response.
