Hi

I am very interested to know what people use.

I want to establish a standard where I work for application packaging and therefore want to standardise the entire process from first receiving the vendors package to installation and testing.

The software would need to be able to document each step, allow for peer reviews, approval etc.

if anyone can suggest anything, that would be great.

We are also running Sharepoint so perhaps software around that could be implemented.

Thanks in advance.

Arry.

I realise that this is a pretty old question but I thought it was worth adding some detail to show how our product AppTracker solves these challenges:
  • Initial app requests go into a "Submissions Queue". From there they can be Accepted/Rejected/Rationalised

  • Once apps are accepted we track their progress through the lifecycle, faciliate peer review, UAT and deployment
We also have the ability to connect to software inventory systems such as Snow/Centrix/SysTrack etc so that the apps are automatically added to the submissions queue when users launch them. It's incredibly powerful as we can then view 'realtime' data on who is using which apps in the current environment, which makes planning for change (eg. Windows 10) much cheaper and faster as the apps team can focus on the applications which the business actually use, and start the deployment phase far earlier as a result.

Additionally a new feature we have coming soon is ITNinja integration which helps speed up the packaging process. More info here

- Flexera Software WorkFlow Manager ( fully webbased and integrated with AdminStudio , SCCM etc..)  http://www.flexerasoftware.com/

- SparkleFlow http://www.sparkleflow.com/

- AppTracker http://www.apptracker.co.uk/Blog/home.aspx
