Presumably you mean this issue arises when you run the install which you created after capturing the vendor install, not when you actually captured? If that's the case, almost certainly something wasn't captured fully.

Re-run your application but with ProcMon (a freeware process monitor) running alongside. This will immediately highlight any missing files or registry entries, which will help in pinpointing the source of the issue.

Actually i have captured the application and when i launch the shortcut ER5 its says its not registered but can continue with evaluation version,

i put the registries which i captured for this ER5 shortcut in base build but off no use.

what do you think the problem lies

If it's a file in the user profile or HKCU you have to make sure these are repaired when the user launch the application for the first time.
It could also be that the file that contains the register info is already present but with wrong content.
What happens if you install the original installation and then try to launch the shortcut as another user?

It launches the full vesrion not the evaluation version of ER5. This problem occurs when launched in administrative mode itself. Where as setup doesn't behave as msi.

If I understand you right;
The application is launched in full version for normal users but not for admins?
If so, then it seems that you have set a file keypath for a user component. In that case you should use a HKCU reg entry instead.

Where is the license info stored?

maybe you could also clarify which user did the install.

userA installed and worked ?
userB run after A installed didnt work ?

and current access levels of the users, Ian's favourite tool procmon is likely to be quite useful as well.

theres details of how to use similar tools here under permissions

LOL...as you know, John, I *really* don't understand how anyone does this job (or any job involving software, to be honest) without it or similar. Same goes for Dependency Walker...

...for which I'm *sure* you meant to add a link, since a search on Juice for 'ProcMon' produced no results and for 'AngelD' produced 3 hits, none of which were about ProcMon :{ :)

Try searching for DebugView instead as I think that is what John ment.
