Shortcut only

Hi,

I need to create an .msi file that only copies a shortcut to the desktop. There is no setup to be run, just the shortcut creation. Is this possible? I have tried creating an .msi in AdminStudio and added the shortcut to the Files and Folders section but when I run the msi it gets to the Install section but there is no Install button to click. Am I missing something obvious or is it not possible to do this?

I think you can include a .lnk file of the shortcut to be created. Add this through the file table of the msi or you can also create a patch for the same.

Hiya,

That is what I have done, I created a new project and copied the .lnk file into the Desktop folder in Files and Folders which added it into the File Table but as I said, once I save this and run it, it gets to the dialog box where you click install but there is no install button. Do msi's need more within them or should they be ok with only a .lnk file?

What do you mean when you say "or you can also create a patch for the same. "

hi
If you don't want any install section to run, just run the msi silent with the /q.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
