Service wont start

Im installing a product which has a service. I have an msi, and also a language tranform. When I install the product, it installs fine, and the service starts as it should.

When I install the product with the transform (the tranform only changes strings in the installer), the installer stops with an error 1920, and says that the service cannot be started. But it works fine without the tranform, any ideas?

Your post does not say if you are using Wise, but if so, Wise is known to sometimes screw up when saving an MST. You should try to create the transform using ORCA or instEd.

Run ProcMon (or your favoured process/file/registry monitor) as you start the service and it will tell you what's going on.

So what changes are made through the transform?

I managed to get this fixed by using procmon (thanks VBScab). I had a file which only installed when the product language property was set to 1033, so when i installed another language, the service would not start since it did not find this file
