For whose Setup.EXE? Different installer engines use different mechanisms for creating their response files. Maybe if you went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out on a limb and actually mentioned the application, we might get a clue.

Its one of the client applications, cant mention the name here on the forum.All I can say is its not the .msi file but a setup.exe file (runs with Installshield)which I want to INSTALL/ UNINSTALL silently with the help of the response file.

Here's another limb for you, then...Google for "installshield record response" (without the quote marks...)

setup.exe -r -f1"c:\test.iss"
you can take above as example.... please note there is no space between f1 and path.
