Hi bheers,
do you meant to use Remove File option?
we tried that and files are removed but empty Folders are not getting removed.
we want to remove the empty Folders.
Another scenario is ,when an MSI which has got a service associated with it (which has been controlled by using a service control to stop and remove on uninstall)
the problem is once service is removed it requires a system restart which happens but the removal of remainning folder/files are not happening.
kindly advice us
thanks in advance

hi there
can you please make the question clear
do you have an empty folder or a folder with remnant files in it when you uninstall the msi package
if you have empty folders run a validation check with orca and you should get ice errors 64.
make an entry in the remove file table.
if you have remnant folders with files iin it then I can write you a vb script with custom action ( Call VB script from Installation) sequenced after Install Validate with the condition REMOVE =ALL to remove the folders with the files in it on the uninstall
is this what you want to achieve

Hi cygan,
thanks for the input but the folder is not empty while packaging.while uninstall this will take away all the files inside but empty folder remains back.
it has been observed this problem generally occurs when this msi has a service assosicated with it , which will prompt for a restart and folders will be remaining after that.
our customers are not happy with VB script which we used before. They want us to check with the WISE functionality in more detail.
In WISE we tried with REMOVE FILE table.but this will remove only the files but empty folders are remainning.we tried by giving NULL as well as blank values in files name column, but still it is not working.
thanks in advance

You can write a Wise Script to remove the folders and files in it, if the default Wise Installer Functionality is not working.
and scedule the Action during Removal.
in wise script editor there is a Remove Folder\Files option. and use *.* and Check the 2 boxes beneath the folder name.
if Remove~="ALL"
Execute program from Installation
End
use this in Execute deffered, before or after install finalize

hi bheers has put you on the right track
you can try creating .exe files using wisescript which is easy to use
look at wisescript admin tasks examples
