I have been searching the internet and this site to find out more about using VMWare for packaging applications. One of my big questions is do you install the VMWare Tools? I wanted to know if the tools were installed does this make it not clean. Also, does anyone have any links to steps on using VMWare in this capacity?

Every client I've worked at which uses VMWare installs the tools, if for no other reason than having the mouse cursor in the VM actually move when the mouse does :)

The resulting machine qualifies as "clean" since no other software (to my knowledge) uses the same resources.

From my experiences, I tend to leave VMware tools out of the equation when it comes to repackaging applications.

I have specifically run into issues when using ZENworks Application Virtualization to capture Adobe Creative Suite 4 when VMWare tools is installed.
