Outlook 2007 - PST Default Location
I am pushing out Office 2007, and am trying to figure a way to manipulate the default location in my builds (automated) for targeting PST files when setting up a new system.
Unlike Outlook 2003, the current behavior of Outlook 2007 on our setup is to default back to the “standard†location for pst files of “C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook†instead of staying in the last folder you selected, for example “C:\Workâ€Â.
I found some information that seems to only apply to 2000/2003 but I haven't had luck with 2007 using this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883401/ It was to create the following Registry String: using 12.0 instead of 11.0 :) HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\ ForcePSTPath;Reg_SZ;"C:\Work"
Any thoughts would be very appreciated.
Thanks!

I am currently having the same problem, but using OCT is not an option because those settings only go into effect when you install, and we are trying to change this setting on thousands of boxes with Office 2007 without redeploying.
Have you tried going the registry route?
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Catalog]
"\\\\mailstorage\\username\\Outlook.pst"=hex:a4,0c,00,00,00,00,00,00
I use Office 2007's setup /admin program to customize everything, but I think the registry change and some scripting might help you out.

Actually I have fixed this problem already. I'm not sure about this, but I don't think the ForcePSTPath works in Office 2007. At least it didn't for me. After poking around in the registry I found two possible keys where the AutoArchive setting could be located:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\default\0a0d020000000000c000000000000046\001f0324
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook\0a0d020000000000c000000000000046\001f0324
The default archive (not AutoArchive) setting is the 001f032c value. By default they're both REG_BINARY values, but it will take a REG_SZ.
IMPORTANT: You cannot put environment variables in this value. My script had to pull the %appdata% for the current user and put that in the value using the ExpandEnvironmentStrings method in VBScript.
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\default\0a0d020000000000c000000000000046\001f0324

Ahh, alrighty. I stumbled upon this site as I'm putting Active Directory in my network and was looking for tips and tricks, and when I found your post, I thought I'd share what worked for me. Glad you got everything all worked out!

At work with mails I usually has a lot of problems, one of the best popular of them-corrupted or deleted mails, similar problems I resolve through-pst file fix,it is free as far as I remember, moreover tool has many good probabilities,it can also be used to recover data from Microsoft Exchange .ost files and convert them into Microsoft Outlook .pst files, attempt to recover the data from the damaged file, saving the output data either as a single .pst file or as a set of .eml, .vcf and .txt files, easily imported by other applications supporting these formats, such as Microsoft Outlook Express or Windows Address Book, will display a progress report showing recovery statistics, such as the number of recovered folders, items, paths to the source and resulting files, software fix outlook pst under and compatible with Windows 98,4.0,Me,2000,XP,Vista.

I agree with the thoughts of PackageExpert, but although the outlook 2007 have quit different issues such as when outlook 2007 reparer pst is required then of it fails. You will need some other method to get the lost data back to you.
