openoffice.org registration-disabling

Hi mates!

I have searched in the net, forums, ofcourse appdeploy to avoid the registration window that popsup when we launch it for the first time.

Solution from the resources say that we need to modify the file setup.xcu in the location c:\program files\openoffice.org\share\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\setup.xcu from the value "oosetupcompleted"="FirstStartWizardCompleted" value.

I have altered this file and added in my transform. After installing the msi with mst when i launch the desktop shorcut i am still getting openoffice.org registration window. I am getting the last window that is
i want to register
i don't want to register
i want to register later.
other previous windows being suppressed.

Basically when you jsut install the MSI you get a window that has 4 steps to complete.

Please help me.

Suma

(sigh...) Is it me? Is it? How many times are we going to have to respond in exactly the same way to requests like this? It isn't hard, folks, it really isn't.

- Install your MSI
- Start a lightweight snapshotting tool. I use Ziff-Davis' In Control.
- Start the application
- Make the changes you require, in this case, clicking through the registration dialogs
- Complete the snapshot
- Add relevant changes to your package.

I'd bet that there's a step missing from the instructions you found and this is the only reliable way to find it.

It might have saved some time if you'd said that in the first place, don't you agree?

Did you exit the app? Some apps delay writing their configuration data until the user exits.

The issue is the Common.xcu file. Go to your network install point and modify the Common.xcu Registration section.

<node oor:name="Registration">
<prop oor:name="ReminderDate">
<value>Patch</value>

Change the value from Patch to _default

<node oor:name="Registration">
<prop oor:name="ReminderDate">
<value>_default</value>

Save the file. When the user launches the application for the first time they will not be prompted to register. This is also in addition to the changes documented in the package knowledge base where you make changes to the setup.xcu file.

If you are not using an administrative install of OO then you will need to extract the contents of the OO cab file make the change and create a new cab file.
