The MSI should just install but will the application work is the million dollar question. Microsoft has a tool to help out with testing called the Application Compatability Toolkit but you still will rely on good ol testing by your application experts. You can find the toolkit here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/aa905072.aspx
Also you should understand the User Account Control in Vista. Here are some links to help you out.
