Managed installs vs scripting to perform pre-checks and failure notifications prior to sofware install.

Hi Ninja's,

Looking for some feedback on performing pre-checks prior to software install.  Here's the challenge I'm facing.

When deploying a large package from our Kace1000 i.e. outlook2016 using managed installs, we have a problem where the install fails because there is not enough space on the endpoint.  Or perhaps during the install it uses up the bulk of free space and the install fails.  It then tries again (based on our settings) 6 hours later.  It repeats this 3 times and then we are aware that it failed.

What is the best method to launch an install and know fairly quickly that it failed?  I'd prefer to know that the install hit and then failed.  Waiting 18 hours to find out is not fun...

Thanks!!

  • In the managed installation page, at each software you can see the status of your deployments, click on "show all" link - gwir 7 years ago
